Job Title: Children’s Residential Support Worker (RSW)

Contract: Full Time & Part time Agency/Bank

 

Salary: £11.00 – £16.00 per hour based on shift pattern

As an RSW, you will be responsible for assisting and supporting young people in their day to day. You will attend to their practical, physical, and emotional needs. Be there as a role model and enable them to work through their difficulties to reach their goals and ambitions.

 

Some of the duties could include:

  • High quality of care and support for children and young people.
  • Working within the guidelines from the 1989 Children’s Act, National Minimum Standards, Every Child Matters, and other relevant legislation.
  • Create a nurturing, supportive and caring environment in which children feel safe and secure.
  • Establish positive relationships with the children and young people.
  • Ensure care plans are followed and in date.
  • Attending to practical matters in relations to childcare such as cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home.
  • Act as key worker for young people and children to ensure plans are met and in date.
  • Provide emotional support at times of difficulty or stress.
  • Being ambitious for young people and helping them achieve their goals.
  • Providing support with their educational needs and extracurricular activities, this may include supporting them in the classroom if needed.
  • Acting as an advocate at meetings where the young person is the subject of discussion.
  • Deal with challenging behaviour

Some of the skills/requirements would include:

 

·       Minimum 1 year care experience (preferably working with children and young people) in the UK, within the last 2 years.

·       RTW

·       Flexibility as per needs of home

·       Desired: EBD experience

·       Good written and verbal communication

·       Enhanced DBS

·       Desired: UK FULL LICENSE

Working Pattern

 

·      Hours may vary depending on client.

·      Day shift

·      Sleep in Shifts

·      Weekdays

·      Weekends

·      Rota Basis

·      16 Hours Shifts
