Job Title: SEN English Teacher – Secondary Schools

Salary: £33 000 per annum
Working Hours: 9.30am – 4pm, teaching hours 10am-12pm and 1-3pm Monday-Friday, 39 weeks per year

We are looking for a passionate, highly expert subject teacher able to enhance their subject delivery through the understanding of therapeutic principles. The candidate must be a self-aware individual who can reach beyond the classic setup of a school, capable of supporting our mission to redefine the educational environment. This individual will be mindful of research into learning, social systems and attachment-based approaches. In addition to offering excellent education for young people with an Education, Health & Care Plan they will support our objective for the young people we educate to gain an understanding of who they are, what they need and what they want from society.
Skills & Knowlege:
● Expert knowledge of and passion for the GCSE English curriculum
● Ability to successfully use tools for self-reflection to adjust approach to working
● Understanding of high-quality teaching and learning strategies in the subject, and the ability to model this for others and support others to improve
● Awareness of local and national organisations that can provide support with delivering the subject
● Ability to build effective working relationships with staff and other stakeholders
● Understanding of how to adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs
● Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
● Good IT skills
● Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate a vision and inspire others

● Degree
● Qualified Teacher Status or significant tutoring/teaching experience
● Therapeutic qualifications or experience desirable

● Experience of subject leadership in English desirable
● Teaching experience in GCSE English/English Literature
● Teaching experience in A Level English/English Literature desirable
● Experience teaching Functional Skills English desirable
● Emotionally literate or therapeutic curriculum design and delivery desirable
