OneCall24 are proud to be working with an established charitable organisation who have multiple care homes. They provide a range of flexible, individualised care and support services for people with learning disabilities, mental health support needs and older people.

Their services include supported living, domiciliary care, housing and care (extra care) schemes, care homes, day services and respite/short breaks.

The role:

In this new job, you will be supporting the tenants to live valued lives within the community.  This may include provision of personal, emotional, social and physical support on a shift work basis.  To undertake specific additional responsibilities as part of the supported living team and at all times to work in accordance with company’s policies and procedures.

You will work closely with staff and tenants in promoting individual packages of care that reflect the      person’s chosen lifestyle.  Work as directed by the co-ordinator of the work area, in supporting tenants in their day to day living. You will also support tenants in leisure, education and employment services inside and outside of the home. As well as support tenants as much as possible to undertake household chores, including planning and preparing meals, to involve tenants as much as possible in maintaining the household environment.

You will assist tenants in maintaining their personal hygiene where necessary and support tenants in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships. You must be experienced and proficient in carrying out (facilitating) all aspects of the key worker role including Individual Planning to take charge of the scheme in the absence of the Team Leader as required.

In this role you will co-ordinate and deliver training, mentoring, coaching and development activities in the scheme under the direction of the co-ordinator. In particular to develop areas of expertise. Administer medication as required in accordance with individual needs.

You must act as a key worker to a named individual tenant, take charge of the home on a shift basis as a designated responsible person and liaise with social and health care professionals in supporting tenants’ needs.

Complete written reports and notes as required as part of company’s policies and procedures and take responsibility for areas of financial management for the home e.g petty cash.

Accompany tenants on holidays and provide support in planning and booking holidays.

You will be expected to carry out any other duties deemed appropriate by the supervising manager.

Hours and Salary:

Part-time (24 or 30 hours a week) – £15,712 (pro rata) plus £40 per night for “sleep ins” Hove

 To be considered for this role:

For this job, you need to be willing to complete the Care Certificate, but no particular qualifications are required. A Diploma in Health & Social Care Level 2 or related qualification would be an advantage.

You will need to have previous experience caring/supporting people with mental health support in either a paid or voluntary capacity, with experience of working as part of a team at the workplace.

You must have the ability to read reports, instructions and policies/procedures in English and able to write legible reports, care plans and instructions in English. You will have numeracy skills that are sufficient to produce petty cash returns, complete monitoring sheets and perform basic calculations. Basic computer keyboard skills, and the ability to use computers on a regular basis are required for this job.  Examples of the level required may include, the use of the internet, emails, and basic software packages to record and access information.

You must have the ability to undertake “sleep-ins” or “on call” duties and work flexible shift patterns including all seven days of the week 365 days per week.

Also, you will have a basic understanding and knowledge of equal opportunities at the workplace and in supporting tenants, understanding of the nature of the post, understanding of people with mental health support needs and how to support them to live valued lives in the community.  As well as, an understanding of Person Centred Planning, the effects of institutionalisation, the effects of transition on people moving from one home to another.
